Old Scholars

Ever since the schools inception, the Old Scholars or Old Boys have been an integral fabric of the building of Fiji as a nation. Four of Fiji’s five Prime Minister’s have been Old Boys with various Old Boys in various positions of leadership over the years.

From Turaga ni Koro’s to the corridors of power in the capital, Suva, the Old Scholars of Queen Victoria School feature significantly.

The Headquarters of the QVSOB is on High Street, Toorak. The structure is called Matanisiga Hall or “Face of the Sun” Hall.

The building was acquired in _______ and has remained a meeting place for Old Boys, young and old over the last 50 years. The Matanisiga Hall has “aged” over the years and the need to develop either a new clubhouse on the existing site or on an alternate site is being pursued as a matter of priority by the Executives of the QVSOB Association.

Other initiatives being carried by the association include:

  1. Establishing a Vision, Mission, Values and Objectives of the Association.
  2. Development of Membership Database.
  3. Development of Newsletter
  4. Development of Website
  5. Review of Constitution.

The QVSOB Association occupies a very special place in Fiji Society and the current move by the Old Boys association to reinvigorate and reorganize will ensure that Victorians will continue to contribute to all levels of Fiji Society, as was envisioned by the Chiefs of Fiji some ninety-eight years ago.
